The Coconut Castaways is
an exciting social and community service organization and
also the first official nationwide fan
club of Howard Livingston and Mile Marker 24. This
nonprofit organization is based in Des Moines, Iowa, but
our members come from all over the country. So far we have
members in over fifteen states!!
Who are the Coconut Castaways? The Castaways are a group
of people who enjoy the Key West, tropical and Caribbean
lifestyles. We love to socialize and have fun, but
we also believe in giving our members many opportunities
to give back something to their communities. If you
enjoy this laid-back, island way of life and care about your
community, too, you are a perfect candidate to become a Castaway!
The Coconut Castaways have also developed a relationship with
one of the hottest bands in the Florida Keys, Mile
Marker 24. Howard Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band have a
rapidly growing fan base and the band’s popularity is growing. Their hit
song “Blame It on the Margaritas” was named the #1 Trop Rock song of 2007! We
love the band’s tropical music and so decided to be the FIRST Coconut
Castaways to form an official club. Howard and the MM24 band are
really looking forward to coming to Des Moines for a concert (or two!) in the
Summer of 2008. We have already begun planning for this Special Event so stay
tuned for more!
Our Club holds monthly gatherings in the Des Moines area.
These social events are called “Jump Ups”. Each Jump Up will provide opportunities for fun
and socializing, but also for discussion about our upcoming community involvement
and charity work. Check our Events Page to
find out more about our upcoming Jump Ups. We’re always
looking for new faces and fun things to do! What

The Coconut Castaways slogan, as seen above, is “Serving Community Roles With
Caribbean Souls”, so YES, community service and volunteer opportunities are very
important to us. Visit our Community Roles page to read about the many
local and even national organizations we have supported so far. We encourage
all members throughout the country to volunteer whenever possible. If your organization
needs help with an event, please contact us and we will see if we can
get some of our members to help.
Our club has been very successful so far and continues to
grow. This is your chance to join a group that welcomes
ideas from its members and encourages participation on many
levels. We have a membership made up of people that
enjoy “jumping in” to help the community. As a member, we
know you will make some great friends, do great service,
and have fun, too.
