Komen Race for
the Cure (October 2007)
Team participation in the 5k Run/Walk on behalf of breast cancer research and
funding for mammograms for those who cannot afford them.
On Saturday, October 6, 2007, the Coconut
Castaways participated in the Komen Race for the Cure in
Des Moines. Some ran, some walked, but it was all for a
very worthy cause ... to raise money for breast cancer screenings
and research. It was a beautiful, WARM morning for the walk,
too. Thanks to Marc and Tammy Hollander for going the extra "mile" and
raising extra $$ for the cause, too! In total, our Coconut
Castaways team raised almost $400! Our team consisted of
Marc and Tammy Hollander, Sara Hollander, Dale and Julie
Engelken, Josh Engelken, Gabby Engelken, Kevin Owens, and
Brian Wolf. Next year we hope to have an even bigger team!"
